VOLK Audio Debut | ÉTOILE World Tour: Singapore

EVENT COVERAGE | OCTOBER 27, 2025

APRIL 3, 2025 - The launch began the night before CanJam Singapore with a private event hosted by Zeppelin & Co., Singapore’s home for high-fidelity sound and design.
It was the first time VOLK Audio appeared in public, and I wanted the moment to feel personal and intentional.

I opened the evening by sharing the story behind VOLK. After a decade of designing in-ear monitors for other brands, I reached a point where refinement alone was no longer enough. I wanted to rebuild the process from the ground up, to create without limitation, and to pursue sound with complete intent. That pursuit became ÉTOILE.

I spoke about what drove its design, how it was developed, and what I wanted it to represent. ÉTOILE was built as both a technical statement and a personal one. It was the first expression of what VOLK stands for: purpose, precision, and emotion working together.

Afterward, I introduced my good friend and mastering engineer Michael Graves. I had collaborated with Michael nearly a decade earlier, and his perspective has always grounded my understanding of what truth in sound means. That night, he shared how the same discipline that defines his mastering work shaped the refinement of ÉTOILE. His words reminded everyone that great sound is not about volume or spectacle but honesty.

Our conversation that night was not a presentation. It became an open exchange about craft and intent, and why design at its best should disappear and let the music speak for itself.

What made the evening unforgettable was the people who filled the room. Singapore’s audio community has always stood out for its openness and sincerity. There is a genuine curiosity here, a willingness to listen not only to sound but to the story behind it. Seeing familiar faces from my earliest days alongside a new generation of listeners reminded me why I continue to build. The connection felt honest and personal, carried by shared respect for music and craftsmanship. Having Jude Mansilla of Head-Fi join us for VOLK’s debut brought the night full circle and gave it a sense of completion that I will always remember.

A Moment Ten Years in the Making

Michael Graves, Kenny Chan, and Jack Vang

Ten years ago, when I launched my first brand, Earwerkz, it began as a small crowdfunding project built around a value-based in-ear monitor called the Supra. I had no idea where things would lead, but soon after, I released my first flagship model. Those early days were difficult. There was little traffic, and outside of the professional artists and musicians I worked with, almost no one knew who I was.

Then, a few weeks later, I received an order. It was from Singapore. The order number was 001, and the name on it was Kenny Chan.

That single purchase changed everything. It was the first time someone outside my circle of clients had placed faith in what I was creating. Kenny and I had never met, yet his belief in a product built by hand, from a small unknown brand, meant more than he could have known. It gave me the conviction to keep building and to trust that there were listeners out there who understood the intent behind the work.

When I began planning VOLK’s debut, I knew I wanted to find him. Ten years had passed, but I still remembered his name and that first serial number. I reached out and invited him to the private launch.

Seeing him again after all those years was emotional. It brought back memories of everything that came before VOLK, the uncertainty, the nights spent building by hand, and the few people who believed before there was proof. I shared the story with everyone present and thanked Kenny personally for his faith back then. I told him that ÉTOILE was not yet in production, but that I wanted to give something back in the same spirit he had once given me. I promised that when it was ready, I would gift him his own set.

Months later, when production began, I kept that promise and sent his pair to Singapore.

That moment was more than symbolic. It reminded me why I do this. Every design, every refinement, every late night at the bench exists because of people who believe in what you are creating even when it is nothing more than an idea. Music has always been a deeply personal part of my life, and to share that love with others and to see it move people the same way it moves me is what keeps me building.

These are the connections that give VOLK meaning. They are what I live for.

Jude Mansilla, Founder of Head-Fi, introduces VOLK Audio and the ÉTOILE.

The following morning, VOLK Audio made its first public appearance at CanJam Singapore. The show marked the formal debut of ÉTOILE, following the private listening session at Zeppelin & Co. the night before.

This time the atmosphere was entirely different. The calm of the private event gave way to the energy of a full exhibition hall. Countless listeners, reviewers, and distributors stopped by to experience VOLK for the first time. For many, it was their first encounter with both the brand and its philosophy.

Throughout the weekend I met people from every corner of the industry. Some were familiar with my earlier work, while others were discovering VOLK for the first time. Each reaction reminded me that what we had built resonated across boundaries of language and background.

By the end of the show, it felt as though the years of quiet development had finally met the outside world. CanJam Singapore became the point where VOLK moved from concept to reality, carried forward by the very people it was built for.

Zeppelin & Co. | Singapore’s Listening Space

Kristy Song, Fengyang Song, Jack Vang & Jordan Oki at Zeppelin & Co.

Zeppelin & Co. has become a cultural anchor for Singapore’s audio community. Founded by Kristy Song, the store has always been more than a retail space. It is a place where music lovers, engineers, and designers meet, exchange ideas, and share in their passion for sound. Kristy’s dedication to creating that kind of space has shaped something rare: a shop that feels like family. Her belief in connection and her pursuit of excellence mirror the same values that built VOLK.

If you are ever in Singapore, stop by Zeppelin & Co. and experience ÉTOILE in person. Let them know Jack sent you. Whether you happen to catch Kristy or any of her incredible team, you will be in good hands.
